Whimsical Wedding at The Gardens at Heather Farm
When two people are meant to be, sometimes the universe gives them just the right nudge. For Chloe (she/her) and Becca (she/her), their love story began long before they realized it. Meeting through mutual friends in 2014, their eventual connection was sealed on Bumble during the pandemic! The rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward just under three years of engagement, and this incredible couple threw a whimsical, fantasy-inspired wedding at The Gardens at Heather Farm, filled with love, laughter, and plenty of personal touches.
How did you meet meet?
We originally crossed paths in 2014 through mutual friends, but didn’t explore the possibility of dating until much later. Amid the isolating reality of the pandemic, we both found ourselves single and reconnecting virtually. The timing clicked, but not before some soul-searching and their fateful Bumble match that gave us the push they needed.
We didn’t rush things, opting for socially-distanced and virtual dates during quarantine and moved in together in October 2021. Our thoughtful approach carried right into our engagement, which took place at Disneyland on December 21, 2021. (Is there a more magical location?)
What was their wedding theme and inspiration?
Our vision evolved over time. What started as a fall-inspired, moody ambiance developed into a whimsical, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream-inspired” theme. Imagine a fairy garden party in late autumn, it was personal, fantastical, and utterly dreamy.
To bring their vision to life, we incorporated enchanting touches like personal books used as décor and a signature scent to set a truly memorable atmosphere.
How did they make the ceremony special?
Our ceremony at The Gardens at Heather Farm was unlike any other, blending traditional elements with deeply personal rituals. Chloe’s uncle officiated the ceremony, which included meaningful hand-holding and symbolic ring exchanges.
But the real standout? We created two sets of vows – private vows shared during a magical first look captured by the brilliant Hellena Cedeno Photography, and repeat-after-me vows during the ceremony itself. This personal approach allowed a exchange heartfelt private reflections before sharing our love with our family and friends.
How did you personalize their wedding day?
Everything about this wedding was ours. From unique traditions to offbeat setups. We found beautiful ways to make their wedding truly personal.
- Getting ready together with our moms and bridal parties created intimate, calming moments leading up to the ceremony.
- A custom temporary tattoo station offered guests playful souvenirs to remember their celebration.
- We closed the night with a perfectly curated mini dance party, ending with Elton John’s “Your Song” and Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer.”
Tell us about some family traditions you incorporated into the wedding day.
Absolutely! We added sentimental touches that made the day even more meaningful. Chloe used her great-grandmother’s toasting coupes during the reception – a cherished family heirloom that connects generations. Becca’s cousin gave a heartfelt toast, representing her family’s unwavering support and love.
What advice do they have for planning a wedding?
Planning a wedding is no small task, so tackle it thoughtfully. We worked with Flores Events to hire an LGBTQ+ supportive vendor team, ensuring our celebration reflected inclusivity and respect. Chloe emphasizes staying true to your personal vision – whether it’s rewriting the rules or taking your time to create something uniquely you.
