Intimate Elopement by Lake Crescent, Chicago

Kylee and Shannon were really good co-workers, both nurses in the Neonatal ICU. One thing led to another and they fell in love a couple of years later. Since day one, they’ve always spent so much time together, including working the same shifts at work!

THE PROPOSAL

They decided that they’d share two separate proposals, since both of them wanted to be proposed to. The timing, though, that would be a surprise.

Kylee surprised Shannon with an intimate proposal at home, which then led to a surprise double proposal. Shannon had everything she needed ready to go, she just didn’t have a set plan yet.

Ultimately she decided to just propose at the same time!

PLANNING THE ELOPEMENT

Deciding to elope was actually an easy decision. They knew they wanted epic photos, an intimate ceremony, and the ability to hang out with each other the entire day.

That’s what was most important to us, and that’s what we did!

Planning the elopement wasn’t a secret to their family or friends. Instead, they included them in as much of the process as we could. They both took their loved ones wedding dress shopping with them, had their best friends plan bachelorette parties, and even live-streamed the ceremony for our families to watch from home.

In the end, everyone accepted and supported our decision to elope.

THE ELOPEMENT DAY

Their perfect day started at the Airbnb they rented in Port Angeles, Washington. Together they spent the morning soaking up the moment before the day began. Together they got our hair and makeup done to a playlist they’d made and eventually revealed their dresses to each other – one thing they’d kept secret.

One flat tyre later, we rode over to our ceremony site at the beautiful Lake Crescent. We said our vows in front of our vendors and the nice people staying at Lake Crescent Lodge, who cheered for us at the end!

After the official stuff, we took some photos, had our first dance on a dock on the lake, and read some letters we received from friends and family. The day ended with a home-cooked meal by our planners on the deck of our Airbnb with Taylor Swift in the background. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
