Getting married in Texas

Texas is big, and so is its queer wedding scene, especially in Austin, Dallas and Houston. Every vendor here has been vetted to be genuinely affirming, so you can plan with people who are firmly on your side.

The legal bit

Both of you apply together at a county clerk. Texas has a 72-hour waiting period between getting your license and your ceremony. Complete the state’s Twogether in Texas premarital course and the wait is waived, and you get a discount on your license fee too. The license is valid for 90 days and can be used anywhere in Texas.

Where couples are saying yes

Austin is a favorite, from a black-tie wedding at South Congress Hotel to a spring wedding at Vuka. Houston brought us an intimate glasshouse elopement, and Dallas a butterflies-and-tattoos elopement.
