A Double Proposal Inspired by Taylor Swift at Big Sur
Megan and Jordan’s Big Sur double engagement was about two people, deeply in love, choosing to create a moment that felt like them in every way. They traveled across the country to Garrapata State Park for a proposal that was as intentional as it was breathtaking.
From writing heartfelt vows at Carmel Valley Ranch to exchanging rings with the Pacific crashing behind them, every detail was planned with care and meaning. With their celestial-themed rings from Sarah O. Jewelry and outfits from Nordstrom, they brought their unique style to a day that felt perfectly them.
How did you go from friends married to me, to falling in love with each other?
Megan: We were friends for nearly a decade before love came into the picture. Even back then, Jordan stood out, she has this effortless coolness and excels at everything she does. At the time, we were both married to men and living in different cities, so our connection stayed as friends.
But when I moved to the same city as her, I just knew I wanted more time with her.
Then the pandemic hit, and during those reflective days, I found myself questioning my sexuality in new ways. We bonded over our journeys, and at a friend’s wedding, Jordan kissed me; just as a joke! But sparks flew, and everything changed.
Jordan: I’ve loved Megan little by little, and then all at once. From the moment we met, there was something about her that made every interaction unforgettable. That kiss at the wedding felt like lightning – it wasn’t just a kiss; it was the start of something magical.
How did you decide on a double proposal during a trip to Big Sur?
Megan: We both knew we wanted to propose to each other – no surprises, no gimmicks – just an intentional moment of love. Being a Taylor Swift fan (and proud Gaylor), I suggested Big Sur as a nod to the infamous photoshoot Taylor had with Karlie Kloss there.
Jordan loved the idea, and we turned this dream into a beautiful reality.
What made Garrapata State Park the perfect spot for a proposal?
Jordan: Big Sur is stunning no matter where you go, but Garrapata State Park had everything we wanted – dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and this wild, untamed beauty. It felt like a place where love stories are meant to be written.

What was the engagement day like?
Jordan: It felt like the universe was on our side. We started the day writing our proposals at the Carmel Valley Ranch, where we were staying. The day was full of serendipity, from stumbling across a flower vendor who created the perfect bouquet to Taylor Swift’s “Mastermind” playing on shuffle just before we arrived at the park. At Garrapata, we read our proposals to each other at the edge of a cliff with the ocean below. Megan’s had me laughing so hard I was crying – it was equal parts love letter and stand-up comedy.
Megan: We exchanged rings in unison, shared a kiss, and just took in the moment. It was surreal.
Speaking of rings, how did you choose them?
Megan: We each designed our own rings but wanted them to complement each other. Both rings have celestial elements – sunrises, starlight, and blue diamonds. They’re a perfect reflection of us: unique, but undeniably a pair.
What emotions were running through your minds as you proposed?
Jordan: I felt so sure yet so nervous. We’ve built a life together, and this was a beautiful way to affirm that. Seeing the ring on Megan’s finger made everything feel so real and so right.
Megan: For me, proposing was a way to declare, “I choose you and our family, forever.” It was an easy yes in every sense.
