When you’re travelling, especially for your honeymoon, you want to be able to relax and celebrate in a hotel that you can feel comfortable in as a newly married LGBTQ+ couple. Hotel Icon is the perfect choice for a stay in Hong Kong.

While Hong Kong isn’t known for always being inclusive LGBTQ+ as a country, there aren’t anti-discrimination laws or marriage equality, but there is one hotel that’s taking a stand and doing what they can to make a big difference [and they even have a specific pride package].

Hotel Icon sits in the bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui, directly opposite of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline. And while you’ll be knocked back by their incredible indoor verticle garden when you step inside, there is so much more to Hotel Icon than a [very] Instagrammable wall.

Behind the scenes, the hotel’s management is dedicated to training the future leaders in hospitality, training students from the nearby university. Hotel Icon is also one of the only hotels in Hong Kong that have put in place protection and policies for its LGBTQ+ staff, giving them both a workplace free from discrimination and equal benefits to their co-workers.

Hong Kong is a city that is rich with LGBTQ+ history and culture – you just need to know where to look. Hotel Icon takes the guesswork right out of that, offering a pride package to urban travellers that includes more than just a near-three hour private walking tour of the city.

While the rainbow notebooks that were left as gifts in our hotel room where a welcoming touch and the HK$200 shopping vouchers to some of Hong Kong’s coolest art stores, Kapok & G.O.D. were put to good use, it was on the walking tour that we were most enriched.

Led by Benita Chick, the LGBT In The City Walking Tour is one of those things that you don’t think of doing in a new city, but once you’re there, it’s the most amazing and enriching experience you could have done. The 2.5-hour walk around Hong Kong Island led us to bars lined with rainbow flags that we didn’t know existed and taught us about the rich, but sometimes challenging, history of LGBTQ+ people in Hong Kong.

We promise, you won’t be disspointed with a stay at Hotel Icon.

If you’re a couple in Hong Kong who want to celebrate your love and throw together a wedding celebration, Hotel Icon has a beautiful ballroom to put together the celebration. We know that staff will go out of there day to make your day the best of your life!
