A Jewish Wedding in Kansas City
Ariela (she/her) and Bri’s (she/her) wedding at The Timber Barn at Weston Red Barn Farm in Kansas City was a heartfelt celebration of love, tradition, and creativity. From their first date in Harlem to planning a rustic barn wedding that honored their Jewish heritage, their journey has been filled with joy, authenticity, and a few unexpected twists. With personal touches like a DIY s’mores bar, a lively Hora, and a chuppah that symbolized their shared future, their wedding was a perfect blend of tradition and individuality.
How did you decide on The Timber Barn at Weston Red Barn Farm?
We knew we wanted a rustic and intimate setting that felt authentic to our vision. When we visited The Timber Barn at Weston Red Barn Farm, we immediately fell in love. The barn’s charm, the surrounding plains of the Midwest, and the cozy atmosphere made it feel like the perfect place to start our next chapter. It was a splurge, but we couldn’t compromise on what felt so right. Signing the contract even lined up with my parents’ anniversary, which made it feel like fate.
Did you incorporate any Jewish traditions into your wedding?
Absolutely. Honoring our Jewish heritage was important to both of us. Under the chuppah, we exchanged vows guided by Rabbi Doug Alpert. We also included the signing of the Ketubah, a cherished Jewish tradition, which added meaning and depth to our day. Despite challenges like finding kosher caterers in Kansas City, we made sure our wedding reflected our cultural roots in every way we could.

Did you include any fun or personal touches in your wedding?
Our wedding was filled with personal touches that reflected our personalities and love story. One of our favorite details was the DIY s’mores bar, which was a huge hit with our guests. We also worked with our amazing photographer, Court from Stag and Bird Photography, who captured every heartfelt moment, from the Hora to our sunset kiss in the open fields. And of course, our signature drinks bar added a fun and unique flair to the reception.
What were your favorite moments of the day?
There were so many incredible moments, but standing under the chuppah together and exchanging vows was unforgettable. It felt like time stood still, and all the chaos of the day melted away. The Hora was another highlight – it was pure joy being lifted in chairs, surrounded by our loved ones singing and clapping. Those moments are etched in our hearts forever.
