A Queer Good Mythical Morning Studio Wedding with Rhett and Link

There are weddings, and then there’s getting married by your favorite YouTubers. El (she/her) and Molly (she/her) skipped the long engagement and headed straight to a filmed wedding day at the Good Mythical Morning studio in Burbank. They said yes to a casting call, traded vows in gender-affirming outfits, celebrated with Rhett and Link, and even spun the Wheel of Mythicality. Their day wasn’t about tradition, it was about showing up fully as themselves and having fun doing it.

You skipped a traditional engagement. What led to that?

We actually eloped legally after the November election. It was something we knew we wanted to do right away, then planned to celebrate later. When we saw the casting call for the Good Mythical Morning wedding, it felt like a sign. From the moment we booked it, we had about a month to prepare.

Why choose the Good Mythical Morning studio in Burbank for your wedding?

It was all about timing and trust. Rhett and Link officiated, which felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. They grew up in similar environments as Molly and have worked with queer creatives for decades, so it felt healing and celebratory.

What was planning like on such short notice?

Stressful and hilarious. We did not have much to plan because the production team handled so much, but we still had quick decisions to make. Molly focused on finding outfits that felt gender-affirming and stylish, while El handled emotional support duties. Molly’s sharp shirt came from Wild Fang, and the custom suit was by Kirrin Finch which made her feel both comfortable and confident on camera.

Did you write your own vows?

Yes, and that was intimidating because the wedding was being filmed. Molly had to keep hers short, which was a challenge since she is a talker, while El focused on making hers heartfelt. We set aside time to write separately but celebrated finishing with ice cream. Submitting them to production made sure there were no last-minute changes.

What did the wedding day look like?

We arrived in Burbank the day before and squeezed in a quick tattoo session in Los Angeles before heading to the hotel. On the wedding day, call time was 9 AM at the Good Mythical Morning studio. We toured the set with Rhett and Link, filmed confessionals, rehearsed, then had our ceremony, which included a few surprise moments. Afterward, we celebrated at a Mythical-themed reception complete with cake, Polaroids, an open bar and a spin on the Wheel of Mythicality.

One of the biggest pre-wedding stress points for Molly was hair styling. Luckily, she worked with Aesthetically Adine, who colored and styled her hair so it would hold for two full days of filming and celebration. It gave Molly confidence to style it herself on set and focus on the fun moments of the day.

What were some of your favorite moments?

Everything. Being married by Rhett and Link, dancing to Doechii at the reception and feeling fully seen and celebrated was incredible. Their similar backgrounds and commitment to inclusive storytelling made the experience deeply meaningful for us.

Did you keep or change any traditions?

We each walked in with one of our officiants instead of family. They also acted as our “dads” for the day and even did a first dance with us. We were pronounced wife and wife, but they also offered to say partners, which was really thoughtful.
