Photographs That Capture A Feeling

My name is Marilyn, and I’m so glad you’re here. ♡

I am a couples & wedding photographer based in New York City, and happy to travel to wherever your day is at!

My work centers around challenging the stereotypes of what a wedding day has to look like.

The industry still has harmful stereotypes and gendered practices, so my mantra is to truly celebrate and make weddings accessible for all.

I won’t ever ask you to be someone you aren’t.

As a queer woman, it’s incredibly important to me that you get to express yourself honestly.

I believe your day can feel casual, yet so special – mirroring how so many memories are made. So if dream-like, raw documentation is your jam, I might be your gal.

As a member of the LGBTQ community myself, photographing and celebrating ALL types of love stories is always my number one priority, as well as my biggest honor. I know how antiquated the wedding industry can still be, and part of my mission as a queer artist is to break as many of those gendered, harmful stereotypes as possible.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Ben+Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie ice cream!

What’s a piece of advice you find yourself giving to all your couples?

Stop and savor as much as you can during the day. Whether that’s making time to be alone with your partner for 5 minutes, putting “savor it!” into the timeline, anything that will force you to pause and look around.

How do you ensure that your work reflects the lovers’ unique love story?

I make sure to learn about, and communicate with my couples! I love to ask about what their most anticipated moments will be, rather than focusing on my most anticipated moments. This helps me get into their minds, and focus my energy into the things they will treasure most.
