Getting married in Oregon

Oregon is an elopement dream, with old-growth forests, waterfalls and a wild coastline, plus Portland for city celebrations. Several vetted vendors in our directory are based in Portland, too.

The legal bit

You’ll wait 3 days after your license is issued before the ceremony, though you can waive the wait for a small fee. Then you have 60 days to marry anywhere in Oregon, with two witnesses. In Multnomah County, you can apply online first, then pick up your license in person together.

Who can officiate

Your officiant can be authorized by a religious congregation or a secular organization, or be a judge. They have 5 days after the ceremony to return the signed license, so pick someone organized.

Where couples are saying yes

Think a Mount Hood forest elopement with champagne pops, rainbow flags and red lanterns in the forest and private vows among the redwoods.
